Helambu  Trek

Helambu is situated towards the north east of Kathmandu. This valley is famous for its scenic majesty, natural beauty, and rich Buddhist culture with favorable climate. Though this is the short and closest trek from Kathmandu but still  this trek provides the stunning views of the  Himalayas.  Like Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lhakpa , Gauri Shankar Himal and other small mountains. In this valley trekkers explore  the  unique local culture and lifestyle of Sherpa and Tamang people. Most important the Sherpa communities of this region differ greatly from those of the Solu-Khumbu region in their culture and tradition. During this  trek you also get opportunity to explore the Hyolmo culture of high mountain people.

The shortest Helambu trek begins from Sundarijal, the north east corner of the Kathmandu valley. Then you climb up through the Shivapuri national park to the Shivapuri ridge. A good view of  views of  Gauri Shanker Himal (7145m.), Langtang Lirung (7246m.) and Ganesh Himal (7406m.) is seen from Shivapuri. In this trek you pass through alpine meadows, rhododendron and bamboo forest. The Sherpa communities of this region differ greatly from those of the Solu-Khumbu region in their culture and tradition.
